The Boss ODB-3 overdrive pedal is tailored to meet the demands of today’s bassist with a wide variation of sharply contoured sounds ranging from a mild overdrive to a hard distortion. It covers the entire spectrum, including 5-string basses, so there’s no muddiness, even on the lowest notes. A balance control is provided so you can mix the effect with the bass signal to keep the power and presence of the original sound. Can also be used as a 2-band EQ.

Perfect for the metal bassist

The ODB-3 bass overdrive pedal gives you the perfect cruchy tone that metal music demands. I use it with an Ibanez Soundgear through a 15 watt Fender Rumble amp. It sounds tremendous, even through the mediocre amp. I worried about losing some of the low tone with the pedal, but it handles it fantastically. In fact, it emphasizes the lows for an extremely crunchy overdriven tone. The pedal comes with two separate knobs for boosting or cutting both the low and high tones. I find that mixing them gave me the exact heavy metal sound I was looking for. It also has a dry/overdrive knob to set how much overdriven sound you want; and a gain knob to set the intensity of the overdrive. I find that if you set the gain, low, and high knobs to maximum, and the dry/overdrive knob to completely dry, the unit acts as an all around boost with no overdrive. The manual comes with some presets that are helpful in getting you started, but the real value of the pedal comes from your experimentation. I would very highly recommend this pedal to anyone looking for a crunchy, hardcore tone.
